Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
The short version: Cross the Peas currently stores your household information on your own device. We don't run analytics or advertising trackers in the app, and we don't sell your personal information. Some features we plan to add (accounts, subscriptions and store product lookup) will involve trusted service providers, described below.
1. Who we are
This policy explains how Drop Group, LLC ("Drop Group", "we", "us"), a Michigan limited liability company, handles information in connection with the Cross the Peas app (the "App") and crossthepeas.com (together, the "Services"). If you have questions, email us at hello@crossthepeas.com.
2. Information stored on your device
To plan meals, the App lets you enter information such as:
- household members' first names or nicknames, age groups, and portion sizes;
- allergies, foods to avoid, diets and food preferences;
- optional calorie and nutrition targets, if you choose to track them;
- your ZIP code, preferred stores, shopping day and grocery budget;
- meal plans, recipes you add, pantry items and shopping lists.
Today, this information is saved in your device's local storage and is not sent to us. Your ZIP code is used on the device to estimate grocery costs and to match the App's light or dark appearance to daylight where you are. Planned: finding stores near you. You can create a backup file, and you can erase everything from the App's settings ("Erase all data"). Deleting the App or clearing your browser's site data also removes it.
Allergy, diet and nutrition details can be sensitive. Please only enter what you need, and only enter information about other people (including children) if you are their parent or guardian or have their permission.
3. Information we receive today
- Messages you send us. If you email us or use the App's feedback option, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and we use it to respond to you and improve the App.
- Waitlist sign-ups. If you join the Cross the Peas waitlist, we receive the email address you enter. See section 12, Waitlist.
- Hosting logs. Our website and web app are served by our hosting provider, Netlify, which may automatically record basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the site.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the App or on this website, and we do not load third-party fonts or scripts on this website.
4. Planned features and the providers involved
These features are planned and aren't available yet. We will update this policy before they launch.
Accounts
An optional account would let you sign in and keep your subscription across devices. It would require an email address and a password or sign-in method. You will be able to delete your account from inside the App.
Subscriptions and payments
- App store purchases. If you subscribe in the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google processes the payment under their own privacy policies. We receive purchase status, not your full payment card details.
- Records of your agreement. When you start a subscription, we keep a record of the subscription terms you agreed to and when you agreed, so we can show what you agreed to.
- Web checkout. If you subscribe on the web, Paddle acts as the merchant of record and reseller. Paddle collects your payment and billing information and handles sales tax under its own privacy policy. We receive order and subscription details, not your full card number.
- Subscription status. We plan to use RevenueCat to keep track of whether your subscription is active across app stores and the web. RevenueCat receives an app user identifier and purchase and subscription records.
Store product lookup (Kroger)
We plan to let you find matching grocery products at your Kroger family store. Once that feature is available, if you choose to connect your Kroger family store, we'll receive your search terms and store and send them to the store only to answer that request, and we won't keep them. We don't use your searches for analytics, and we don't keep your location. If we later let you send items to your Kroger cart, you would sign in with Kroger directly (we never see your Kroger password), and you could unlink at any time. Kroger handles information it receives under its own privacy policy.
Allergy, diet and other health-related information
Allergies, diets and optional calorie or nutrition targets stay on your device. If we ever offer a feature that stores this information on our servers (for example, syncing between devices), we will describe it here and ask for your consent before it is collected.
5. How we use information
We use the information we receive to provide and support the Services, process subscriptions, respond to you, keep the Services secure, fix problems, and meet legal obligations.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only in these cases: with service providers that help us run the Services (such as hosting, payments, subscription management and store product lookup, as described above); when you ask us to (for example, when you share a shopping list using your device's share options, you choose the recipient); or when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
The service providers we use or plan to use are:
- Netlify: hosts crossthepeas.com and the web app, and stores waitlist sign-ups through Netlify Forms.
- Akismet: Netlify's spam filter, which checks each waitlist sign-up for spam.
- Kit (planned): stores the waitlist and sends our launch and newsletter emails, once we move the list there.
- Paddle: web checkout, as merchant of record (planned; see section 4).
- Apple and Google: app store purchases (planned; see section 4).
- RevenueCat: subscription status (planned; see section 4).
- Kroger: store product lookup (planned; see section 4).
7. Keeping and deleting information
Information on your device stays there until you erase it. We keep emails and support records only as long as needed to help you and for our records. When accounts launch, you will be able to delete your account and its associated data from inside the App, or by emailing us. Some records, such as transaction records, may need to be kept for legal, tax or accounting reasons.
When you delete your account, we delete your account data, with one exception. To make sure each person gets only one free trial, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your email address, along with whether and when you had a free trial or subscription and where you signed up (web, App Store or Google Play). We keep it for up to 24 months, use it only for that check, and don't keep your email address itself.
If you delete your account while a subscription charge could still go through, we keep a small record so we can refund any charge made after your request. It holds only your Paddle subscription ID, when you asked to cancel, a random ID not linked to your name or email, and the dates we need to know when to delete it. We keep it only until we've confirmed no further charge can go through, usually about 90 days after your paid period ends and never more than 24 months. Then we delete it.
8. Children's privacy
The Services are made for people managing a household's meals and aren't directed at children under 13.
A parent may enter details about children in their household (such as a first name, age group or allergies) to plan meals; today that information stays on the parent's device. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reputable providers, send data over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and keep what we hold to a minimum. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Because most App data is stored on your device, keeping your device secure also protects it.
10. Your choices
You can view, change or erase the App's information on your device at any time. You can contact us to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will respond to requests as the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the Services change, and we will change the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes, we will give notice in the App or on this website.
12. Waitlist
What we collect
We collect the email address you enter, the date and time you joined, and the sign-up wording you agreed to. We don't ask for your name. The waitlist page doesn't use analytics, tracking pixels, ads or cookies.
How we use it
We use your email address only to tell you when Cross the Peas launches and to send you the Cross the Peas newsletter with recipes and featured cookbook authors, as the sign-up line says. We won't use it for any other brand or business.
Who else handles it
Netlify hosts crossthepeas.com and stores the waitlist through Netlify Forms. Its spam filter, Akismet, checks each sign-up for spam. Like any web host, Netlify's servers process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the page. Before we send any email, we'll move the list to our email service, Kit, which stores it and sends the emails for us. We don't sell, rent, trade or share your email address for advertising.
Unsubscribing and deleting your email
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribes within 10 business days. You can also email hello@crossthepeas.com to ask what we hold or to have your address deleted. We'll reply within 30 days.
How long we keep it
We keep it until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or we stop running the waitlist. After an unsubscribe, we keep only what we need to make sure we don't email you again.
New uses
If we want to use your email in a new way, we'll ask you first.
